INAUGURATION OF THE NEW PRESIDENCY
12 december 2025
Dear members,
Taking on the presidency of CReA is a great honour for me and, at the same time, a significant responsibility towards an organisation that, over the years, has forged a path marked by dedication, ideas and initiative.
In recent years, I have been fortunate enough to participate more and more actively in the life of the association and to share activities, projects and opportunities for discussion with you, gaining a close insight not only into the work that CReA carries out, but above all into the people and values that bring it to life every day. This makes the emotion surrounding this transition all the stronger: I know how precious – and at the same time fragile – is the responsibility I am taking on today, especially in such a complex historical period, which makes our commitment and daily work all the more important.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Paola Berbeglia for the long and invaluable work she has carried out at the helm of the association; her years of dedication have contributed to building a solid organisation recognised for its commitment in the fields of education, social inclusion and global citizenship. And in the meantime, she has also found the time to mentor me; it is truly a privilege for me to continue on this path and to carry forward the course she has charted with such dedication and expertise.
My commitment, together with the Executive Committee, members and collaborators, will be to continue to develop CReA, building on the activities already underway and opening up new opportunities for collaboration. I firmly believe in the value of dialogue, participation and working together.
I am convinced that CReA’s true strength lies in the people who are part of it: in the skills, experiences and perspectives that each person brings to the table.
I hope that this new journey will be an opportunity for all of us to continue building together, with enthusiasm and responsibility, a community that is increasingly open, inclusive and attentive to differences.
Wishing us all the best on this journey,
- Aurora Berbeglia, President of CReA
20 years of CReA
20 december 2023
Today, with our annual CreA assembly, it has been 20 years since our founding. A group of people began this journey of active listening to local communities and of belonging to a global citizenship. We wish CreA many more years to come.
- Paola Berbeglia, President of CreA.
HORROR IN GAZA
19 october 2023
We are gradually legitimizing the concept of war, normalizing violence, and erasing human rights.
WAR / The Palestinian position does not equate to the terrorism of Hamas, and as long as we continue to regard the ideology of a single movement as representative of an entire population, we will never be able to make progress. We will keep closing off, a priori, every space for dialogue. At the same time, we must denounce—just as many Israeli organizations are currently doing—the maximalist and inhumane methods now being employed: the Israeli army is forcing civilians to evacuate to the south of the Gaza Strip. This constitutes a forced displacement which, in fact, violates international humanitarian law.
VIOLENCE / We are witnessing—almost as if it were normal—an escalation of violence that annihilates civilians on both sides and sacrifices them on the altar of realpolitik. But the thirst for power and cold political calculation are not worth even a single human life.
HUMAN RIGHTS / International institutions must intervene immediately to defend the right to humanitarian assistance, or their inaction will make them complicit in the disaster. Specifically: safe zones for civilians in the Gaza Strip must be identified immediately, and humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter. Let us not forget that one of the goals of global citizenship is peace. But an active peace—not a symbolic one—that must be pursued every single day, by rejecting war and violence and by upholding human rights.
- Paola Berbeglia, President of CreA.
