20 years of CReA (20/12/2023)

Today, with our annual CreA assembly, it has been 20 years since our founding. A group of people began this journey of active listening to local communities and of belonging to a global citizenship. We wish CreA many more years to come.

HORROR IN GAZA (19/10/2023)

We are gradually legitimizing the concept of war, normalizing violence, and erasing human rights.

WAR / The Palestinian position does not equate to the terrorism of Hamas, and as long as we continue to regard the ideology of a single movement as representative of an entire population, we will never be able to make progress. We will keep closing off, a priori, every space for dialogue. At the same time, we must denounce—just as many Israeli organizations are currently doing—the maximalist and inhumane methods now being employed: the Israeli army is forcing civilians to evacuate to the south of the Gaza Strip. This constitutes a forced displacement which, in fact, violates international humanitarian law.

VIOLENCE / We are witnessing—almost as if it were normal—an escalation of violence that annihilates civilians on both sides and sacrifices them on the altar of realpolitik. But the thirst for power and cold political calculation are not worth even a single human life.

HUMAN RIGHTS / International institutions must intervene immediately to defend the right to humanitarian assistance, or their inaction will make them complicit in the disaster. Specifically: safe zones for civilians in the Gaza Strip must be identified immediately, and humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter. Let us not forget that one of the goals of global citizenship is peace. But an active peace—not a symbolic one—that must be pursued every single day, by rejecting war and violence and by upholding human rights.
